5th Grade - Read "The Store Bought Dress" (page 472...)and do worktext pages 189-192.  I also gave them an optional bonus assignment (worth up to 10 extra points on their test grades from today):  Read "The Proving of a Hero" (p. 485); then write a five paragraph essay which should include a synopsis of the story (what happened?  why were the characters considered heroes?); the students then need to write about (in the same essay) a person they consider to be a hero, and explain why.

Complete the writing challenge (from the sheet I handed out in class today); it should be four paragraphs.  
Write your story that you have been compiling all year, from the pages you have written in your English book; the pages are page 54, page 92, page 120, page 136, and page 194.
